Is China on track to reduce its carbon emissions? If so, why is it building so much coal power? In this episode, researcher Lauri Myllyvirta brings data to bear on China’s recent decarbonization efforts and helps demystify the country’s larger intentions.
China produced 200 GW of solar and wind last year, which is all of Europe's production. The solar panels last for 30 years. Why can't we import some of China's high quality solar panels and make an exception to the IRA rules? We do not have enough time to waste on American production. And don't forget, all the US needs is 1,300 GW to power the whole US.
Great discussion. My worry. Does the world economies focus on cures rather than saber rattling. Not sure what the CO2 finger print is on wars, war machine maintenance and % of GDP wasted on global MIC spending. If nations could agree on underspending in these war machine maintenance areas of security/world dominance/ raw material unsharing extraction maybe 2025/3030/2050 CO2 emission goals could be readily achieved. The earth is a village. Together we can.

Separately we destroy our biosphere
