I stumbled across Volts sometime in the last year or so and have been going through back episodes as time permits. Thank you for the deep geekery! I always end one of your pods feeling a hopeful than I was at the beginning of the episode -- I love hearing about people actually engaged in fixing stuff rather than stories about the doom that awaits us.
David, I wonder if you want to expand your scope to also discuss climate mitigation. I know some activists want to avoid such discussions because they think it gives us excuses not to focus on phasing out fossil fuels. However, mitigation is going to be part of the solution, for better or worse, and it's worth giving it some attention, even if decarbonization remains the priority.
I love you and your spirit. David. Been a subscriber for a couple years now. Trying to support as many good people as possible. As an infomaniac + Singer-Songwriter focusing on How to get to a better future... The current trajectories all around boggle my mind. At least two or three song ideas/ hook lines /issues a day spew out of my brain and it is therapeutic. Likewise, it is wonderful to have humans in my life like yourself who are caring and trying to communicate with all of us in a positive fashion.
Keep up what you do. You are a rare bird in a truly ill world. How we're going to get through AI/ oligarchy/ propaganda/ disinformation and Easley malleable brains of humans which seem to gravitate towards bullshit...wow! At 74 years young I never in my wildest imagination considered we'd be where we are today.
Tim Miller today had appropriate comments about that funk in today's Bulwark, and his expertise isn't connected to climate. I subscribe, so let me know if you'd like to read it. Smart and funny, if that's possible.
Thank you for all you do. I love your podcasts; I learn so much! Finally committed to supporting you. I know you will keep on doing the good work of telling us about the clean energy transition!
Crazy it’s only been 4 years - I can hardly remember a time before Volts :) I hope you make it to Denmark next year (aim for summer ☀️). Thanks for being an island of inspiration in the online froth - I appreciate the passion you put into your work (enhanced geothermal!).
David, I joined Substack about two years ago and one of the first places I found was volts. Your stack is part of the reason we committed to solar and all electric appliances. We are currently shopping for an EV which will complete our transition. Luckily we live in New Mexico, a state that is perfectly suited for solar power.
Right there with ya! And thanks for focusing on the good. That's all we have right now and you are one of my heros for the focus you put on the clean energy heros cheers
note I have a subscription under jgpalasz414@gmail.com but sometimes my comments show up under my other email address. bottom line. I'm a paid supporter :-) Happy Holidays from a fellow Seattlite
I always enjoy both the coverage of energy transition and the sprinkling of political/philosophical topics. Maybe opportunity for more of the latter in the coming years if you wanted to. Regardless, always enjoy the podcast!
It would benefit your non-American listeners to get away from the American politics of the American transition and broaden your coverage to the rest of the globe. Half your interviews are Zoom calls, so there's no reason to avoid that fantastic things happening in China and Europe.
A Pod on the stupid number of cheap Chinese solar panels currently flooding into Pakistan and changing their whole grid situation, would be very welcome. You did one on how did Canada get a carbon tax; one now, would be about how to save the beleaguered carbon tax.
Thanks David, you're keeping thousands of us better informed and a tad more optimistic than we otherwise might be. Also, I use your pod to get to sleep by replaying old episodes - the episode on green steel works very well :D - so thanks for helping me get a few more Z's
You’re a beacon of light, David, keep shining!

Congratulations on 4 years! I so appreciate all I’ve learned from you!!!
Come for the climate news. Stay for the dog photos.
You inspired me to create some local Cape Cod reporting on climate -- Cape Climate on WOMR.
And, after Trump's reelection, the Cape & Islands Climate Roundup. Not ignoring the bad, but also covering what we're doing locally.
Thanks for your work. Would not have started these things without Volts.
You do good work, David! I'm happy to support you! Looking forward to your podcast in 2025.

One job of a President is to highlight the things he's doing. Biden wasn't able to do that. One of the downsides of his age.
