Hey y’all!
September’s coming up, and with it, my birthday. These days, as I approach my dotage, I find birthdays entirely odious and would strongly prefer not to be reminded of them. To that end, my strategy over the last few years has been to leave the country when they happen.
And so it is this year! I’ll be spending a few days in Hamburg, Germany (where Mrs. Volts will be on a business trip), and then together we’ll spend a few days in Copenhagen, Denmark. About eight days, including travel.
Mainly I’m just letting you know that the pace of pod production (PPP) will be somewhat lower than usual in September.
But I’d also love to hear your recommendations! Mrs. Volts will be working on the Germany leg, so I’d like to keep busy, including with some Volts-related stuff. Perhaps I could even record a pod from the field! And I’d love to get in some urbanism-related sights in Copenhagen — maybe even a pod there too.
And recommendations for just plain old fun stuff to do in either of those cities (or cities close enough for a train-based day trip) are welcome as well. Volts readers and listeners always have the best recommendations. Thanks in advance!
Catching a short train ride from Copenhagen to the seaside Louisiana Museum of Modern Art was a true pleasure. One of the best galleries I've ever visited. Also, really enjoyed breakfast at The Laundromat Cafe (and bookstore)
For your Germany leg, I think it could be interesting to speak with someone from the org I joined recently, Agora Energiewende: https://www.agora-energiewende.org/
They have been and are instrumental in the energy transitions of originally Germany, then the European Union, and in the last couple of years also internationally. Could do a pod on the history of the German energy transition, how they're working to coordinate transition policy across sectors (energy, transport, industry, and agriculture), or how the transition is advancing in Southeast Asia, for example. Happy to connect you if it's of interest.
