We explore the Biden administration's ambitious industrial investment strategy with Heather Boushey, a member of the President's Council of Economic Advisors and chief economist for his Invest in America Cabinet.
Such a great interview and very timely, too. My husband commented to me a while ago that he really didn't understand the scope and accomplishments of the Biden Administration's Inflation Reduction Act because it has not been covered very well by the major media outlets. We both listened to the podcast last night and were delighted with what we heard. It is no wonder why the media has had trouble with this legislation. It is not amenable to being reduced to a few sound bites; it is far ranging and audacious in its goal of redirecting the economy. Major tangible accomplishments are years out. Your guest did a superb job of articulating the vision and steps that have been taken to shape economic policy in a way that is meant to benefit a large percentage of our people. Way more than just the top 1%! Such is the wonder of tax credits!
MAGA labor-exploiters are behind the proverbial 8-ball, because their negative talking points are totally mis-aligned with an economy that's now driven, & regulated, by BigData. Bring your data or go home. Biden's economic legacy is going to be akin to FDR's,.......and the die-hard GQP will eternally hate him for it. But all the communities & businesses that are already benefitting from these new investments are not going to voluntarily turn back.
How can I get in touch with Heather Booshey? I would like to send her a paper on implementing a clean energy policy that serindipiously I just finished yesterday and want to get in front of the Harris administration. Like to send it to you as well. I think you will find it timely.
World trade, the world is a village..we're all in this together. All gone. In its place divisiveness. We'll only be doing business with sycophants.
Our corporations have to reboot to this new neocon neoliberal deep state mime to fo business. How this mucks up the world supply chains short and long terms is yet to be determined. But if I were a international business: yuk...what a mess.

(Personally I agree with Ezra's critique of everything-bagel liberalism, but I still appreciated the humorous trolling there.)

Roberts: Heather, why don’t we kill all those reactionary neolib centrists and just do the energy transformation based on Mao Zedong thought?
Heather: Slow down pal, markets are kind of OK.
